Dangote Petroleum Refinery launched its Initial Public Offering on the Nigerian Exchange. The N2.15 trillion IPO commenced on Monday, September 14, 2026, at the NGX trading floor in Lagos. Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Industries Limited, sounded the gong to formally open the offer. This marks the first petroleum refinery to be offered to investors on the Exchange in its 66-year history.
The IPO comprises 4.1 billion ordinary shares. Each share is priced at N525. A minimum subscription requires 10 shares, valued at N5,250. The subscription window opened on September 14, 2026, and is scheduled to close on October 13, 2026. The offer is open to retail, institutional, and eligible African investors.
Mr. Dangote urged Nigerians, including teachers, artisans, civil servants, and students, to invest. He described the offer as an opportunity for ordinary Nigerians and Africans to become part owners of a strategic asset. He stated the refinery generated N19.47 trillion in revenue in the first half of 2026. Profit after tax stood at N2.55 trillion. He said the investment allows shareholders to enjoy returns and dividend prospects, building generational wealth.
The IPO reflects a broader plan to list more companies within the Dangote group. Mr. Dangote expects the group's market capitalization to reach $350 billion by 2030. He said the Nigerian Exchange will serve as the primary platform for future dual listings on other global exchanges. The listing is projected to create an equity cluster valued at N83.5 trillion on the Nigerian Exchange when combined with Dangote Cement Plc and Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc.
Umaru Kwairanga, Chairman of NGX Group, called the transaction a defining milestone for Africa’s capital markets. Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the IPO creates investment opportunities for a broad range of Nigerians. The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, commended the offer's accessibility, noting the N5,250 entry point for retail investors. David Bird, CEO of Dangote Petroleum Refinery, said the refinery has become the largest single supplier of refined petroleum products into Europe.
